-
Concrete should be batched and placed in accordance with ACI standards.
-
Concrete should be hard steel troweled finished but not “burned”.
-
Maintain consistent water to cement ratio.
-
Ensure slump remains consistent and does not exceed five (5) inches.
-
Use a wood float as magnesium floats can entrap bleed water.
-
Finish edges first, and finish all surfaces within the same approximate timeframe.
-
Care should be taken not to overwork or trowel-burn edges.
Do not over apply curing compounds, as a milky appearance will result.
Do not topically apply water during finishing, as it will weaken the surface and can cause a washed out appearance.
Consult QC bulletin 22.102 for additional requirements for integrally colored concrete.
- For best results - water cure the concrete for 3 to 7 days.
If more stringent ASTM guidelines (e.g. 1315) are required, contact PolishedCrete for additional recommendations if curing compounds must be used. Do not over-apply as a milky appearance will result.
WARNING: If you do not follow all PolishedCrete specifications, your floor may not turn out properly. All concrete reacts differently therefore, inconsistencies should be expected and no sample can be exactly matched.
